MARANA, Ariz. – The finals are set for the final round of the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship with New Mexico and Southern California set to play for the team title. Matches will also be held for third-, fifth-, seventh-, ninth-, 11th-, 13th- and 15th-place with the final round teeing off at 8 a.m. MST Tuesday. New Mexico became the lowest-seeded team (No. 15) to advance to the final after upsetting Texas A&M, 3-2. The Aggies jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after wins by Conrad Shindler and Ignacio Elvira. The Lobos, however, would claim the next three matches after John Catlin downed Jordan Russell, 1-up, by winning the final hole and James Erkenbeck and Travis Ross both earned 2 and 1 triumphs. Southern California earned the first berth into the championship match by downing Colorado State, 3-2. Stewart Hagestad put USC in an early lead with a 4 and 2 victory but the Rams would even the match after Riley Arp’s 4 and 3 win. The two sides would trade 1-up victories from the Trojans’ Martin Trainer and Dustin Morris to move the team total to 2-2. USC’s Steve Lim and Bryce Hanstad entered their final hole all square, but Lim birdied No. 18 to win 1-up and give the Trojans the victory.
